Don’t let people dictate your life. If you never try, you’ll regret it.

I recently walked out of a dead end minimum wage job and I’m going back to school, I’m nearly 30 and most of my family think I’m an idiot.

Note that I don’t have any children or dependants of any kind, and maybe this isn’t the best advice for others who do.

But If anyone else is stuck in a situation like mine I urge you to take the risk.

Ask yourself, when you’re 80, and you’re lying on your death bed and you think back on your life, what do you want to look back at?

60 years in a miserable, dead end job. Earning enough money to pay your bills, yeah sure, but will you have anything to be proud of?

That’s the logic I’m using right now, I honestly think if I am forced to stick to the monotony of that life, I won’t make 80.

And the thing is. It might not work out, I’m prepared for that reality, I want to study computing, web & software design, and I’m fully aware that it might not work out but the thing is, dead end jobs will always exist to fall back on.

There will always be an opening in some shitty warehouse picking Amazon orders, there will always be openings flipping burgers in McDonald’s.

Leaving a job to take a risk, doesn’t mean you will never get another job.

Do what makes you happy, not what others expect from you.

Sure, I’m going to struggle for money right now, my savings will be drained until hopefully I can get a student loan.

But you know, I haven’t felt this free since I was 17.

Money is worthless on your deathbed, but memories are not, and if you never try, it will haunt you.

Much love.
