Hi there. I (M26) posted this photo last week in r/wellthatsucks with the title “My last vacation in Dec 2019 and now trying things on for this summer. What the hell have I been doing for the last year?! Ugh.” I deleted the post after it got so upvoted to r/all because I got a bit embarrassed or worried someone I know could have recognized me.
But, I actually really would like some valid advice about what to do moving forward. I went from about 155-160 pounds to about 247 pounds now from Dec 2019 - April 2021 (pictured). But I don’t think I really started gaining any weight til March of 2021. So I’ve been somehow putting on about 1.77 pounds a week since then. But I genuinely don’t really know how.
I saw my doctor and got a physical recently. I knew I had put on weight but I honestly had no idea that it had gotten as bad as it is, apparently. He was really shocked and made me go through tests like ultrasound, hormone tests, blood work, etc to check for any underlying issues and he didn’t find anything. But he said the weight gain was rapid enough that he wanted to check but could only attribute it to my diet & exercise. So clearly something I’m doing is wrong.
I’ve definitely been less active during COVID and I know I could probably eat better. But I don’t think my diet is really THAT bad??? Or if it is, I don’t know where to begin then. I also have gained most of my weight in my belly, can this be attributed to certain problems in my diet? This is another recent candid a friend took. Just to see what I mean.
If anyone would care to lend any advice about finding the problem areas in my diet and how to change that and figure out where I could be going wrong to gain some weight this year I’d appreciate it. Thank you.
