“The person that you want to be is the person that you really are”

I saw this in a book (the chimp paradox) and it was something that was really interesting and had a good effect on me reading, overall quite a good book. My one question is how do we know the something we want is what we want or what outside forces made us think we want.

I want to be strong, capable of protecting and championing the needs of others. While I feel I want this I’m not the biggest guy out there and how do I know it’s not society’s view on men or not just based on how every hero in the movies seems to act.
