It's hard, out there in the sea that is life, there will be pain and tragedy and that is a given, and then there are the little things, bills, children, long shifts, long days, tiredness, impulsiveness, back pain, anger, sadness. Depression. All of these things are small obstacles but when put together you have a behemoth, a beast of burden, and it tires one out, it slowly chips away at our will and enthusiasm. We men Cower in the face of life, but every so often a few of those men pick themselves up by their bootstraps and run straight into the belly of the beast, straight into and through that never ending dark forest mountain of pain, hardship, discipline, and darkness and for those who make it out, on the other waits their greatness and their glory.
Today I myself go into that dark forest, I have left everything by which I identified myself, my home, my own bed, my family, my friends, my games, my car, my town, my food, my virtues and my insufficiencies, all-in-all my old self. Its currently 1:15AM here in San Antonio, TX, but today at 3AM I'll have to get up and by 10AM I'll be on a plane to San diego to start my 3 month training to become a US Marine. This is my forest, the one I must pass, their will always be a new bigger forest, and I do it in hopes that one day I'll look in the mirror and will have made something of myself. Find your forest and in the off chance that you die through that forest, and you crumble under the pressure of your pursuits, it'll be an honorable death, it'll all have been in the name and pursuit of greatness, You will have lived in the name and pursuit of greatness, and that is the highest virtue.
Remember, Make sure everything is in the Pursuit of Greatness, and all will be Great.
