The human race can feel like it's nothing but a blight on the world. Racists, sexists, rapists, murderers, so on and so on; it's enough to drive the sanest man to lunacy. But before you lose hope, remember what humanity has achieved:
We've cured diseases and developed vaccinations.
We've connected distant people together through radio, TV, air travel and the internet.
We've touched the stars and walked on the moon.
We've created technology to help the handicapped live as close to a normal life as possible.
We've allowed the legless to run.
We've allowed the colour blind to see blue skies and green grass.
We've allowed those with trembling hands to feed themselves with greater ease.
Most recently, we have touched Mars with the finger tips of scientific endeavour.
Humanity has created and/or refined things like agriculture, art, artificial limbs, charity, computers, democracy, ethics, justice, language, literature, mathematics, medicine, music, philosophy, poetry, recycling, sanitation, technology and so much more.
We have accomplished so much, and we are striving to accomplish more.
We have recently seen the second case of HIV being cured.
We are constantly developing ways to heal the planet.
We are finding new ways to support our fellow man through technology and human compassion.
We are striving to cure cancer.
We are looking at the stars and working to reach beyond the wonderous heavens.
So yeah, people can suck. But humanity?
Well, humanity can be pretty fucking awesome.
